Health and Hygiene Programme

Costs for Health & Hygiene educational material has already been included in top structure quotation.   This material is vital in educating household members on the correct method of using and cleaning their toilets which will prevent contamination and the spreading of diseases like cholera, dysentery diarrhoea, etc.  Emphasis is placed on the correct method of using the pit which will enhance pit life spans in excess of 20 to 30 years and will require no or minimal maintenance.

It is essential that household members purchase a 750 ml bottle of normal household bleach (jik) of which half a teaspoon (2.5 ml) to one teaspoon (5ml) of bleach must be added to the water in the reservoir tank every time it is filled. This procedure will ensure that the water stays clean, uncontaminated, algae free and it will also prevent cholera. If used correctly, a 750 ml bottle of bleach at a cost of R12.00 will last at least one year. (A minimal cost of R1.00 per month)
